Students of American studies explore the history, politics, power dynamics and culture of the United States and the Americas through an interdisciplinary lens. Drawing from all academic disciplines at Kenyon, students engage critically and creatively with cultural artifacts, including autobiographies, films, music, graphic novels, performance, art, food and their own lived experiences. Classes in American Studies invite students to examine who is included or excluded from American cultural and political life and the role of race, gender, sexuality, and disability and citizenship in that process.
